Oxford University Press enters into co-operation with Ellibs

PRESS RELEASE 5 DECEMBER 2007

Oxford University Press (OUP) and Ellibs Oy, a Finnish company specialising in ebook sales, marketing and technology, have signed a co-operation agreement regarding the distribution of ebooks published by Oxford University Press in the Ellibs online ebookstore.

An ebook refers to an electronic book downloaded from the Web, which can either be purchased or borrowed from the library just like a printed book. If the book is borrowed from the library, it is automatically returned to the library at the end of the borrowing period. The advantage of an electronic book is its immediate availability and diverse search properties: you can search information from an ebook just like you do from search engines.

The Oxford University Press ebook collection covers more than 4,000 titles and represents a significant addition to the Ellibs book selection.

“Oxford University Press is pleased to be working with Ellibs, offering our content in ebook form to universities in Scandinavia and the Baltic States.” said Nicola Cook , Senior Business Development Manager at OUP, Academic Division.

“OUP is one of the world’s most respected non-fiction publishers, and we are very pleased that they selected Ellibs as a partner. This indicates that our purposeful work with ebooks is appreciated. This agreement means that we will be able to offer an even more diverse range of high-quality non-fiction literature,” said Jarmo Heikkilä, Managing Director of Ellibs.
