The Tachypomp, A Mathematical Demonstration

The plot of Edward Page Mitchell’s The tachipomp, a mathematical demonstration revolves around the proposal of Mr Furnace (the narrator) to marry his professor of mathematics’ daughter. Unfortunately, the teacher does not approve because the narrator did not excel in mathematics. The professor poses a challenge: to discover the principle of infinite speed. The narrator turns to his tutor, and he is sure he will be able to find the solution in the tachypomp and in that case the professor will have to allow Mr. Furnace to marry his daughter.
