Flickerbridge

In Henry James’ Flickerbridge Granger goes to England to recover and write. He left his girlfriend in Paris, and their commitment is unclear. Granger will rest to his girlfriend's cousin, Adelaide Wenham, who lives in an English village. When he gets to Miss Whenham he finds a person and a place delightfully unspoilt. In his first burst of enthusiasm, he writes a letter to Addie talking about that place, but he understands it may be easy to mess up the place and his retirement. Addie is coming, but Granger does not remain there. His fear of what will happen is too strong...
