B. J. Harrison Reads The Invisible Eye
Soon after Christian settles in Nuremberg, he becomes aware of some strange events occuring in the city. People keep hanging themselves from the sign of a public house after having all stayed in the same room of that very house. Determined to find out why, Christian decides to stay in the room, too. It faces a house on the opposite side of the street, in the window of which sits an eerie-looking woman. Could she have anything to do with the deaths?
Creepy and mysterious, 'The Invisible Eye' is a brilliant short story for anyone in the mood to be spooked. Hanns Heinz Ewers' equally excellent 'The Spider' (1908) was based on this Erckmann-Chatrian tale.
