The aim of this book is to examine how the global food trade regime – the trade of food across national borders, international and regional trade agreements, the process of trade and investment liberalization and the growth of transnational food corporations – affects what people eat and, by implication, their health.

The context is the broader association between globalization and the growing prevalence of obesity and diet-related chronic diseases worldwide. In this context, a second aim of the book is to present a critical analysis of the policy options available to address the risks and opportunities presented by the links between trade and diets in a globalizing world.
