The book includes 11 chapters, and can be classified into three aspects. Firstly, all fundamental and theoretical knowledge are introduced and highlighted, including fundamental concepts of grounding, current field in the earth, modeling of soil resistivity, numerical analysis method of grounding, ground fault current of substation, and impulse characteristics of grounding devices. Secondly, the design guidelines for substation, transmission tower, and converter stations are presented, including grounding system of substation, grounding of transmission line tower, DC ground electrode, and materials for grounding; thirdly, the measurement methods and techniques for grounding are introduced, including measurement and modeling of soil resistivity, grounding resistance, potential distribution, and corrosion diagnosis of grounding grids for power substations.
The book will allow people in the power system and lightning protection research areas and in the related industries to understand the fundaments and theories of grounding systems and to conduct grounding system designs and analysis according to the guidelines provided in this book.
