What is an eBook?

The word eBook refers to an electronic book downloaded over the web, which can be bought or borrowed from a library similarly to a printed book.
You can read it on the computer screen or using a special eBook reading device. EBooks borrowed from a library are automatically returned at the end of the loan period. Advantages of the digital book include immediate availability and all-round search properties: an eBook allows you to look for information in a way similar to search engines.

How do I get started?

Installing eBook reader software

First of all you will need eBook reader software. This is a computer program that allows you to read an eBook on your computer. The eBooks from Ellibs are read by using Adobe Digital Editions.

Download Adobe Digital Editions here.

Download a free test book and make sure your reading software works as it should.

Once you have installed the eBook reading software on your computer, you can download our test book free of charge. This way you can ensure that everything works before you buy your first book. Download your test book here.

How do I pay for my purchases?

In Ellibs online eBookstore you can pay for your purchases with a credit card. Your payment will be processed via the international PayPal system accepting Visa, MasterCard and AmericanExpress payments.

Businesses and non-profit organisations can also be invoiced for their orders.

Where do I find eBooks?

Ellibs online eBookstore features thousands of titles.
You can look for eBooks using the quick search feature on the front page or the advanced search. You can access the search page here.

Can I take a printout of an eBook?

Publishers or authors have the copyrights to the titles and they decide on any restrictions on printing and copying the copyrighted material. This is why some of the books we sell can be printed and copied to a varying degree, whereas these functions have been completely disabled for others. The description text specifies the degree of copy protection used for a given eBook.

Why can’t you read eBooks using the latest Adobe Reader?

Adobe Reader no longer supports documents using DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection. To replace it, Adobe has introduced the Adobe Digital Editions - software particularly designed for reading eBooks.

Digital Editions works seamlessly with Adobe Reader, and you can download Digital Editions here free of charge.

What is the matter if I can’t display the book?
