GUIDELINES FOR PUBLISHER

Please provide Ellibs with the following information when making your ebook available for the market. Inserts in the boxes below contain specific data with examples and additional information.

1. Ebook

The relevant titles should be provided in PDF format.

1.1 File Size

The recommended maximum size of a title is 20MB.

- An e-book containing almost entirely text (with the number of pages varying between 200 and 300) is usually less than 1MB. - File size of a title consisting exclusively of images may be closer to 20MB. While it is possible to make available titles with file size in excess of 20MB this can become rather undesirable for the customer.

1.2 Resolution

Sufficient resolution for an ebook is 72 dpi.

Titles with considerably higher resolution will be optimised to a smaller file size.

1.3 Cover image

The cover image or any comparable image of the title should be placed on the first page.

Generally, it is advisable to keep the cover image of the e-book identical with that of the printed version. This makes it easier for the customer to distinguish the desired title in the virtual library of the viewer software.

1.4 Linking

You can add value to your title by providing links.

1.41 Internal links of a book

Active table of contents linking subject headings to the relevant section of the book.

1.42 External references

You can include links to Websites, for instance.

1.5 Protection

Please provide Ellibs with the book in its original PDF file format unprotected.

Our management of copyrights is carried out by Adobe Content Server, which only allows processing of files with no protection applied.

2. Cover Image of the Book

Please provide the relevant file in JPG format.

2.1 Image for the Ebookstore

An image file in JPG format:

Image width 180 px

resolution 72 dpi

The blurb image of the ebook at the store should be the same as the one used on the first page of the electronic title. Only send the blurb image of a printed version of the book if the front cover of the ebook is the same.

2.2 Publicity image

You may provide a large-size image to be used for advertising or other promotional material, as required.

3. Ebook Information

Please provide the required information in a separate text file (in .txt format) as an email attachment.

3.1 ISBN

Ebooks have their specific ISBN numbers not to be confused with those of the printed versions.

ISBN, International Standard Book Number

Each title including an ebook is provided with unique ISBN number, which is an integral part of the book's title information. This identifier cannot be changed or reassigned to any other book, not even when the book is sold out because it is used by libraries. The ISBN number of a printed version cannot be assigned to an ebook. The ISBN system is a uniform system established on international and national levels.
